Hi Ales
So sorry not have replied sooner. Been VERY busy!
Yep, I know it was a kamikaze move but that was Zanardi - a real fighter! He told me that he was amazed he got away with it but he had to try it on because he'd told Ganassi he would win the race! I think Herta just never imagined anyone would try that move on the last lap.......
Anyway, we like Zanardi - a really good man.
Keep in touch.

Dear Ales
Sorry to have taken so long to respond. Been busy and then in Sweden for a memorial weekend in honour of Ronnie Peterson. Anyway, I'm sure you're right about the move at the Corkscrew. I mean, I wasn't there, only saw it on TV, but Zanardi was a very aggressive driver and he told me he was lucky to get away with it!! He aid the car was right off the road and he wasn't sure he'd get it back.......I guess Herta just never dreamt anyone would try a move right then and there, on the last lap. Exciting stuff, anyway, and Zanardi was a real RACER.
Hope you're enjoying the magazine and the blogs. My blogs don't attract much controversy, that's the way it is, but how about Hamilton in Montreal? Did he never learn to do an emergncy stop (part of the UK driving test)? Maybe he was just too busy winning races to be distracted by such things.
Reckon, though, he is the fastest of them all and that he wil take the title this year.
A race between him, Kubica and Raikonen is a terrific prospect.

Well, that pass at Corkscrew, which I saw on live TV and in a number of replays... Mine is certainly not at all a popular opinion about it, and I actually hate to say it, but Alex Zanardi should have been disqualified for that pass. He is extremely likable and admirable guy, but that move was beyond kamikazee. There was NO GAP and his car not only left the track in the process, but basicaly ran ACCROSS THE ROCKFACE that was there. Sure Herta could not believe it, but he braked to give Zanardi some room when he realized that he was indeed coming through. If he decided to defend his position, Zanardi would probably have ended up as no more than a smudge on those rocks. But it did look great, of course.
