Flipping heaven

Sir,

With reference to the excellent photographs in Sights Ole Sixties (May 2002 issue), I can assure readers that my incident as portrayed on page 50 was a one-off. I drove the car throughout 1967 and, driven correctly, i.e. the right way up, it had typical Lola handling and was a joy to drive.

This was the ex-Jeremy Bouckley circuit car, and I had much pleasure in events that season, including a faster time than Patsy Burt in the mighty works Cooper-Climax at Ragley.

Following the Lola, I went from the sublime to the ridiculous, purchasing the ex-Reg Phillips Fairley Climax (built for Shelsley) and enduring a season of pure terror. I am still convinced that the trophies I did obtain with that car were given to me for my bravery rather than skill.

I am, Yours etc, John Ceasey, Cornwall
