Lola partners march to Formula Two victory

Bob Juggings (Lola T240) and Robert Simac (March 712) dominated the Historic F2 Trophy at Donington in May, but only after fastest qualifier Remy Nee was sidelined by gearbox snags in his Brabharn BT28.

In the opening race, Swede Bo Warmenius (Brabham BT36) led briefly, but was soon pushed back to third by Simac and Juggins, where he had an entertaining scrap with Sid Hoole (March 712) until Hoole spun.

Nee took pole for race two, but proved no match forJuggins and then spun at Coppice. While Juggins turned the tables on Simac, James Murray (BT30) bettered Hoole for third.

John Monson and Simon Ham had their victory in the 1950-60s Sports Car race removed for a tyre infringement, Swart Tazard’s Marcos 1800GT inheriting the win, even though he coasted over the finish line out of fuel.

Leo Voyazides and Andy Bacon took the Top Hat race for Pre-1965 Saloons in the former’s Ford Mustang.
