Buenos Aires has a long history of hosting international motor racing, and the city was chosen as an inaugural venue for the new FIA Formula E Championship in 2014/15. An anti-clockwise temporary street circuit was designed by Santiago Garcia Remohi in Parque Micaela Bastidas that is situated in the eastern suburb of Puerto Madero. Its green credentials were emphasised by the adjacent Costanera Sur nature reserve. The race was held three times before being dropped from the calendar for season four of the all-electric racing series.
