2013 Hall of Fame: Tom Kristensen

Tom Kristensen was drafted into Joest’s Le Mans squad at the last minute in 1997, being paired with Michele Alboreto and Stefan Johansson. The trio won and in the years since, barring retirements, he has never finished off the podium.

His record eight wins at La Sarthe speak for themselves, but he has also been there at the forefront of huge changes in sports car racing. Aside from his win in 2003 with Bentley, he has raced for Audi from 2000 to the present day, taking six of his historic victories with them. The manufacturer has pioneered diesel and hybrid technology in endurance racing and unlike many teams looking to the future, the Germans have barely stopped winning along the way, with Kristensen leading the charge.

Tom has also won an incredible six times at Sebring, along with several touring car victories in the BTCC and DTM.
