Well, a new chapter in the long history of Motor Sport has truly begun. Let me explain.
In last month’s issue we heralded the arrival of new editor-in-chief Nigel Roebuck, while I also kicked off my second spell as editor. But the truth is both Nigel and I began our new jobs towards the end of the production cycle for the February issue. Thus, the new March edition on sale now is the ‘real’ start for us. It’s the first issue we’ve seen through from start to finish.
If you are new to Motor Sport, we do hope you enjoy what you see. And if you are more familiar with the magazine, we hope you like the changes we have introduced.
I like to think it’s more of an evolution, rather than a revolution, from the direction Motor Sport has taken in the past year or so. Here’s what to look out for.
The most significant addition is Nigel’s new column – all eight pages of it! I’m sure you’ll approve of the best writer in F1 having more space than ever to reflect on the sport’s current affairs.
Also look out for the first column from our new US editor Gordon Kirby, a name I’m sure most of you will be familiar with. Gordon will be giving us the view from the other side of the Atlantic every month from now on.
There are other changes, too. Check out the historic racing news pages towards the back of the magazine, and a new showcase for the best racing photographers – a monthly feature simply called The Gallery.
But not everything is new and different. The magazine is still packed with entertaining stories from motor racing’s rich heritage, from every era. And the best news of all? There are more pages than ever before.
We think you’ll like it. Let us know what you think.
Best regards
