Davidson for LM Peugeot squad

Former Super Aguri grand prix driver Anthony Davidson will race for Peugeot in this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours.

The 30-year-old has signed up for a short programme of races with the French team including the Sebring 12 Hours, the Spa 1000Kms, Le Mans and, most likely, the Silverstone 1000Kms in September. At Le Mans Davidson will share his Peugeot 908 HDi with 2009 winners Alex Wurz and Marc Gené.

Davidson, who raced an Aston Martin Racing coupé at La Sarthe last year, said: “This is everything I have been working towards since I was in Formula 1. I’ve got into a top LMP1 car with a chance of winning.”

The Briton said he was now focused on a career in prototypes: “I’m satisfied that prototypes are the way to go.”

Davidson, who looked set for a ride last year until David Brabham was brought in, landed the drive when Peugeot decided that Sébastien Loeb should focus on his World Rally Championship programme.

* Audi has introduced new names into its R15 line-up for Le Mans. Benoît Tréluyer, Andre Lotterer and Marcel Fassler have replaced Lucas Luhr, Marco Werner and Alexandre Prémat.
