LETTERS from READEARS

Mr. McGrath’s letter is, or should be considered as, no condemnation of the Citroen Light Fifteen. I have had mine now for 61 years and a better starter could not be found. It also has very good acceleration, so it is obvious to me that his car is not ” kept in trim by an excellent man.”

There are possibly ears with an easier gear-change, though skill is Only required changing, into first, which he should not find difficult to master. He should also learn not to change down to second gear at above 40 m.p.h. At what speed, I wonder, would he expect a hard driver to change down ?

I would recommend him to have his car attended to by a fresh man and only call him excellent when the results justify it, which they should.

As far as the Austin A70 is concerned. I have no experience so can express no opinion. However. I do not like the small opening lid in the middle of the bonnet and am always expecting to be asked by some small owner to lift him up by the seat of his pants to let him have a look at the engine! Surely Mr. McGrath will admit the Citroen has good -accessibility ? I am, Yours, etc.,

Leeds. H. M. II. PICKARD.
