At Fingle Bridge (above left) D. J. C. Bowles’ 3.6-litre Ford V8 rumbled easily to the top while another Ford, the Popular of A. S. Tucker-Peake, managed to remain “clean” in both senses at Stretes. Waterloo (below) provided a vantage point for many spectators, seen watching E. B. Wall tackle the last observed section in his Dellow.
