Miniatures News, February 1987

Bellini Models of Hampshire has expanded its Piccolino range of 1/76 scale miniatures with two single-seaters and two sports-cars. A Jaguar XJR-6 in 1985 all-green colour scheme makes a nice stable-mate to the company’s earlier XJR-5, while Aston Martin is represented by the 1956 DB3S. The other two are the 8-cylinder Porsche F1 contender of 1962 and the 1949 BRM in its original smooth and unpunctured form. Sold as kits from £3.70, the models when assembled (and they are available in this form from £7.84) make very nicely detailed display pieces, accurately shaped for the most part, although the Aston is too heavy around the nose and the Porsche has lost the fine shaping of the nose slot. But the effect, with finely-detailed wheels and screens, is excellent, and each model has a display box to protect it. GC
