Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost

Sir,

I read with great interest the letter received from Mr. Winkle. AX 201 belonged to my grandfather Daniel Hanbury of Castle Malwood, Lyndhurst. He acquired the car in 1907 or 1908, following use of the car by Rolls-Royce as a demonstration vehicle. He used the car frequently and especially for his annual trip to his Italian estate—forwarding luggage and servants by the Blue Train! On his death in 1949 the car was sold by my uncle Sir Alec Coryton—thus Rolls-Royce reacquired

one of their most famous cars.

It is very likely that AX 120 is a Ghost and I believe there is surviving today an even earlier AX number than 201 which is also on a Silver Ghost but with a later chassis number than AX 201.

Rolls-Royce experts . . . “HELP!”
