THE RABASSADA HILL CLIMB

ANOTHER SUCCESS FOR CARACCIOLA IN POPULAR SPANISH EVENT.

THE Ninth Rabassada Hill Climb, which is the wellknown Spanish event held in the neighbourhood of Barcelona, was run off very successfully this year by the famous sporting club, "la Penya Rhin," on Sunday, 17th May. The climb was the first of these counting for the 1931 European Mountain Championship and attracted considerable popular interest, a crowd of more than 50,000 lining the sides of the road. The course has a length of 4.9 kilometres, or rather over 3 miles and is of a difficult nature. Fastest time of the day was made by Rudolf Caracciola on his giant Mercedes-Benz, and he thus looks like repeating his performance of last year and gaining the championship in the sports class. A feature of interest also was the performance of the new Spanish Nacional-Pescara cars which ran in the 3-litre racing class and which proved remarkably fast.
