Formula Three

On Saturday afternoon, before Formula One practice, there was a Formula Three race of International status which attracted a small but good field. The Swiss driver Dubler shot into an immediate lead but a loose gear selector let him down on the opening lap. So the race turned into a tremendously close scrap between the works Brabham BT28 of Schenken and the works Chevron B15 of Wisell. Never were they more than a few yards apart and the lead changed regularly. Eventually Schenken won from Wisell. The experience Beckwith, who once raced in F.1 for B.R.P., finished third in one of the new Lotus 59s, followed by Beuttler in another new Brabham BT28, Keele in the one-off E.M.C. and Gaydon in a brand new Tecno. Hanson, a recent graduate from Club racing, went well in his new Chevron and held third place for a while, but retired with a broken camshaft.
