VSCC: Silverstone

Bill Kirkpatrick came out on top of an excellent Cooper battle to win the Amschel Rothschild Trophy race at the VSCC Silverstone Spring Start meeting, which was held on the International Circuit for the first time. Kirkpatick’s T45 finished just ahead of the T43 of Andrew Smith.

Due to time constraints after an unfortunate course car accident, the Patrick Lindsay Memorial Trophy for pre-war cars was amalgamated with the Rothschild race. John Ure duly put in a great display to finish third overall and claim the Lindsay Trophy with ERA R9B.

Julian Majzub took an excellent Itala Trophy win in the Pacey-Hassan Bentley after a dice with the Hispano-Delage of Robin Baker. The affair was only resolved when Baker visited the Priory gravel on the penultimate lap.

Julian Bronson took his very quick Riley Blue Streak to its seventh Fox & Nicholl Trophy win before switching to his Lister Jaguar for the ’50s Sportscar race. Although he managed to lead early on, he was forced to settle for third behind the Cooper Monacos of John Harper and Ted Williams.
