Williams test role for Wolff

Susie Wolff has joined Williams as a development driver, and the Mercedes DTM veteran will undertake some aerodynamic running – as well as a full test – in the current car, the FW34.

The former Susie Stoddart has been in the DTM for seven seasons, and her last single-seater experience came in British F3 in 2005.

The 29-year-old Scot is married to Williams shareholder Toto Wolff. Sir Frank Williams insisted that “her appointment was carefully considered and then approved by the board, with Toto excusing himself from the process”.

Wolff joins Marussia’s Maria de Villota, who is expected to take part in the F1 rookie test later this year, at the sport’s top level.
