Hans Stuck

The 78-year-old father Of today’s Formula One driver died last month. He had led a very full life of motor racing spanning some 30 years and was outstanding in mountain hill-climbs with Austro-Daimler cars and then with Auto-Union. He was also very successful in Grand Prix racing in the mid-thirties with the V16 rear-engined Auto-Unions, as well as in record attempts. After the war he was still very active in the 1952/3 Formula Two with BMW-powered AFM cars and the later V8 model, his driving being “fiery” right to the end when he retired at well over 50 years of age.
