AGAs galore

The amusing comedy about AGA stoves broadcast last December on BBC TV has caused fresh enthusiasm for these famous cookers. On Christmas-time visits I found that Bentley men George Daniels and Roger Collings had their Agas running well and that Ben Collings was rebuilding his, which he has since fired up. It reminds me that, in the mid-vintage years, there was an exciting Aga sportscar, with bolster tank, outside exhaust and knock-off wire wheels. The 6/30PS Targa Florio model, it was made by AGA-Fahrzeugwerke in Berlin and had a 1 1/2-litre four-cylinder engine. It had followed the AGA 6/20PS, also made as a van. The company failed, but the car was then made in Sweden by the Thulin concern, before the advent of Volvo closed it down.
