Silveratone will host a three-day historic and vintage meeting in June. Organised jointly by the HSCC and VSCC, it is intended that the Silverstone Historic Tribute will build into a major festival in the course of the next couple of years.

More than 20 races are planned for the weekend of June 4-6, the highlights being rounds of the FIA Thoroughbred Grand Prix, FORCE Classic GP, Group 4, Group C and HGPCA Drum-Braked Sports Car series.

In addition there will be a full programme of HSCC championships and races for VSCC cars. Off-track displays will be incorporated and the meeting is expected to adopt specific themes in future years.

“This will be the first of many and the event should be huge in 2005,” said Robin Murphy of the Motorsport Company, which is developing the event for Silverstone Motorsport.

•The BRDC will celebrate the 1960s 1-litre Formula Three era with a meeting at Silverstone on Saturday July 31. The feature race will be for the Peter Hanson Trophy, while the day will conclude with an hour-long pre-war sportscar race that will run into the evening.
