Would all those interested please write to P. Felton, “Holmbury,” Ranelagh Street, Hereford, mentioning if they would be willing to help in the running of the Club.

The Annual Dinner and Meeting of the Sporting owner Drivers’ Club was held on March 24th, 1950, at the Bell Hotel, Aston Clinton.

Some forty members and friends attended and D. B. Payne, Esq., a founder member and Vice-President of the Club, presided; Laurence Pomeroy was the guest of honour and he was prevailed upon with various ruses to make no less than three brief but very interesting speeches.

This dinner, held under the lee of an early motoring hill-climb, marked the resurgence or the S.O.D.C. and gave the opportunity to sketch out future plans and in a mellow after-dinner mood to talk of past club high-lights.

Long before the veteran-car movement reached its present well-established footing, the Kent Messenger organised its veteran car run. This is to be revived on June 17th, in conjunction with the Veteran C.C., over a 22-mile route from Bearsted to Bilsington Priory. There will be simple time checks, but otherwise no special conditions. Veteran and Edwardian cars are eligible and this would seem an excellent opportunity for exercising newly-discovered examples, particularly as no Competition Licence is required and there appear to be no entry fees. Entries close on May 20th, and details are available from E. H. Jeffery, Kent Messenger, Maidstone.

At the Vintage S.C.C. Ordinary General Meeting on April 13th, it was stated that 330 new members were elected during the year, and the assets total over £1,500 after secretarial expenses and salaries amounting to over £958 were paid. Since the war over £8,500 has been paid to charities, as surplus profit on speed trials—please tell your anti-speed trial acquaintances of this! Two events to which we look forward particularly are the 100 kilometre race for pre-1935 racing cars for the Seaman Trophy presented by George Monkhouse, to be contested at the June Silverstone Meeting, and the resumption of the speed trials over the excellent Luton Hoo Course next September. The Club also intends to make a special effort to support Edwardian classes at the B.O.C. Members Prescott Meeting, and at its own June Silverstone, Madresfield and Prescott Meetings.

During the Nairobi Civic Week celebrations, driving-tests and a concours d’élégance were held, but a hill-climb scheduled for March 19th was abandoned when the murram (red mud) road was washed away by rain. Yet, curiously, trials appear to be unknown in Kenya!
