Sir,

With reference to recent correspondence on the subject of twin overhead camshaft engines I would suggest that the 1,100 c.c. Lagonda "Rapier" deserves a mention – and so might the supercharged 1 1/2-litre Squire. The latter was admittedly based on the Anzani, but still incorporated much original design work by the late Adrian Squire. What a superb motor car he produced, by the way: I owned one of the comparatively few Vanden Plas open two-seater bodied models for a time in the late 1930s, when uncrowded roads enabled its outstanding performance and excellent handling qualities to be exploited and enjoyed to the full.
