Series creator Roger Bennington has reported massive interest in the Heritage Grand Touring Car Challenge that will feature on the support race programme at a number of British Touring Car Championship meetings this year.

His Heritage Racing Support organisation has received inquiries from more than 60 teams hoping for a place on the 30-strong grid.

A series of sprint and mini-endurance races will be held at six BTCC meetings, starting at Thruxton in late May.

Saloon cars from the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s will be in action, with a number of their former star drivers taking part. Among the tin-top heroes will be Jackie Oliver, Gerry Marshall and four-time BTCC champion Andy Rouse.
