AC-DELCO Stand 348
A large display of motor accessories is shown on this stand, consisting of sparking plugs, fuel pumps, oil filters, speedometers, air cleaners, ignition coils and many other electrical components used in the motor industry.

AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. LTD. Stands 369, 372 and 383
The full range of products of this group continues unchanged apart from the addition of a dry-type Purolator air filter which has been specially designed for use in cars with restricted under-bonnet space. Borg and Beck clutches are shown on Stand 369, while Lockheed drum and disc brakes are shown on Stand 372. Of special interest to the sporting motorist is the vacuum servo unit which is now being marketed by Alexander Engineering as a power braking conversion unit.

AVON INDIA RUBBER CO. LTD. Stand 206
The Avon Company introduce their new ” Waymaster ” all-weather tyre, which is designed to give a continuous grip in mud and snow and on wet or icy roads. The other tyres in the Avon range are continued, including the ” Turbospeed,” which is designed for the high-speed motorist.

BOWSER, MONKS AND WHITEHOUSE LTD. Stand 447
This company, who introduced the first portable ” drive-on” car ramps, have increased their range to include such items as the Dynometer—which is a brake and engine efficiency tester—carpets, and a tyre guard which warns the driver when a tyre is below a certain pressure.

DAVID BROWN INDUSTRIES LTD. Stand 241
Centrepiece of the display of gearboxes is the S432 four-speed gearbox as fitted to the new Aston Martin DB4. Also shown is the five-speed combined gearbox and rear-axle unit which is used in the DBR2 sports/racing cars. The display also includes a variety of transmission components available to the industry.

C.A.V. LTD. Stand 249
A comprehensive display of fuel-injection equipment, both for automobile and marine diesel use, is exhibited along with paper element fuel oil filters and a large selection of electrical equipment. including batteries and spot-lamps.

CAR-COVERALL LTD. Stand 83
The sun-roof is becoming all too rare on production cars and the ” Webasto ” Continental sun-roof conversion can be fitted to almost every saloon car. This is not a sliding roof but can be folded back along the full length of the roof and is completely watertight, so giving some of the advantages of the convertible.

CHAMPION SPARKING PLUG CO. LTD. Stand 215
Prominently featured on the Champion stand is the” Plugometer.” Made of anodised aluminium, the ” Plugometer ” shows the condition of plugs against coloured photographs of plugs in various stages of wear. Feeler gauges are attached to the instrument for checking plug gaps.

E. K. COLE LTD. Stand 94
Following the general trend this year, a new transistor-powered car radio is displayed on the Ekco stand. The de-luxe model has push-button tuning controls and is available for use with 12-volt batteries only at present.

CORDS PISTON RING CO. LTD. Stand 354
Boxed sets of oil-control piston rings are shown on the Cords stand, the keynote of which is” beating bore wear for 21 years,” as the company were the originators in 1937 of the dished alloy steel laminated piston ring, which has become so popular in recent years.

DUNLOP RUBBER CO. LTD. Stands 204, 380 and 489
Dunlop will not be showing their new racing tyre, the R5, on Stand 204 but will concentrate on road tyres, such as the new Gold Seal, which incorporates a certain amount of nylon in its construction. Visitors to Stand 380 will he able to test the efficiency of Dunlop disc brakes for themselves by sitting in a simulated car and speeding up a wheel to which a disc brake is fitted. Pressure on a brake pedal will show the amount of retardation on a speedometer in front of the ” driver.”

FERODO LTD. Stand 297
Principal exhibits on the Ferodo stand are disc brakes from the main manufacturers fitted with Ferodo friction pads. Also shown is the Tapley meter which is now used to test, brakes in over 6,000 garages in Great Britain.

DELANEY GALLAY LTD. Stand 224
An RKN safety belt is fitted to a demonstration car seat on this stand and can be tried by visitors. The many different types of heater are on display, mainly being tailor-made for various types of car.

GIRLING LTD. Stand 317
An entirely new telescopic damper is on display at. the Girling stand. Known as the C.S.V. damper, it has been completely re-designed although it is externally similar to the previous design. Of 1-in. to 1.375in. bore, the damper is suitable for most cars and light commercial vehicles. A full range of disc brake calipers is also exhibited.

GOODYEAR TYRE & RUBBER CO. LTD. Stand 207
On display at the Goodyear stand is the new ” captive-air ” tyre with its own built-in spare. This tyre has an inner casing which the makers claim will carry on for many miles if the outer casing is punctured, so eliminating the need for a spare wheel. The full range of Goodyear products is also displayed.

HEPWORTH AND GRANDAGE LTD. Stand 331
Exhibited on this stand is a large range of Hepolite products, including pistons, cylinder liners, valve-seat inserts and piston rings. An animated display covers the Oilmaster piston-ring set and the new Hepocrom ring, which are aimed at delaying a rebore for several thousand miles.

LAYSTALL ENGINEERING CO. LTD. Stand 231
Main interest on this stand for enthusiasts is the dynamic balancing of crankshaft and flywheel assemblies. Crankshafts from such engines as the Coventry-Climax and Aston Martin are displayed, together with the well-known Cromard steel cylinder liners. Cylinder head and port polishing facilities are also exhibited.

J. LUCAS LTD. Stands 205, 251 and 316
Pride of place on the Lucas stand is given to the new S7 battery which has a one-piece venting system, doing away with the need to unscrew plugs for servicing purposes. Also new this year is a hub-cap reflector and three new lamps, which supplement the existing range.

MARCHAL DISTRIBUTORS LTD. Stand 392
New on the Marchal stand this year are the new “Uni-Visorims,” which are a matched pair of fog and driving-lamps to replace existing flush-fitting side-lights or winking lights, thus giving the advantage of fog-lamps without the necessity to mount them separately. They can, of course, be used as side-lights or winking lights as required. The complete range of Marchal lamps and horns are also on display.

MICHELIN TYRE CO. LTD. Stand 209
The roadholding properties of the Michelin “X” tyre is well known to sporting motorists, and these tyres are now to be made available to all motorists. On the stand are examples of 13-in., 14-in. and 15-in. tyres which will fit all modern cars from the Standard Eight to the 3.4 Jaguar.

MORY AND CO. LTD. Stand 86
The Mory radiator muff known as the Radblind, which can be operated from inside the car, continues unchanged this year except that the range has been extended to include models for practically every car on the road.

J. NEALE AND SONS LTD. Stand 427
On this stand the well-known ” Raydyot ” lamps are exhibited, including the new flick-on inspection lamp which can be carried on the car.

PHILIPS ELECTRICAL LTD. Stand 92
Main exhibits on the Philips stand are the car radio and the battery. operated dry-shaver which gives six weeks’ shaving on three 1.5-volt torch batteries. Shown for the first time is the fluorescent inspection lamp which was introduced earlier this year.

PIRELLI LTD. Stand 202
Mainly of interest to the 100-m.p.h. motorist is the new Cintura tyre which incorporates a rayon cord belt under the tread and around the carcass. It is claimed that this belt controls the shape of the tyre under all possible stresses and thus ensures that the area of tread in contact with the road remains constant. The Cintura tyre has been fitted to the Alfa-Romeo Giulietta in Italy for some time. Other tyres in the Pirelli range continue unaltered.

SERVAIS SILENCERS LTD. Stand 393
The well-known straight-through silencers are on display on the Servals stand, including sectioned models which demonstrate the differences between the straight-through and the baffle-plate type of silencer. Also useful is the slotted material which can be bent into shape to make suitable brackets for attaching exhaust pipes to ” specials,” etc.

S. SMITH & SONS (ENGLAND) LTD. Stands 252, 307, 344 and 345
On Stand 252 can be seen a large range of dashboard instruments as used by many manufacturers, also heaters, batteries, anti-freeze, etc. K.L.G. sparking plugs can be inspected on Stand 344 as used in such cars as Vanwall, B.R.M. and Aston Martin. For the motorist who uses a fast car the F.E. 220 plug will be of interest. This is a hard plug originally used for racing but now available for high-performance production engines.

SOLEX LTD. Stand 218
A comprehensive display of carburetters is shown, as fitted to many production cars. Also shown are a number of worn carburetters compared with new examples, demonstrating the places where they become worn.

TRICO-FOLBERTH LID. Stand 304
The latest development in windscreen washers is demonstrated on this stand. This system allows the windscreen wipers to be operated In conjunction with the washers by one-control button. Also exhibited is a large range of mirrors, cigarette-fighters, switches. flasher units and direction-indicators.

WELFTT MANUFACTURING (SALES) LTD. Stand 180
On this stand can be seen a large range of car-seat covers, carpets, mats, and travelling rugs. New materials on show include polyurethane foam rayon and moquettes in contemporary designs, as well as the traditional designs such as tartan, ocelot. jaguar, etc.

WICO-PACY SALES CORPORATION LTD. (WIPAC) Stand 278
A new item on this stand is a fuel filter which is designed to be inserted into the fuel line simply by cutting about 2i in. out of the pipe. The filter is made of translucent plastic and contains a sintered bronze element which traps harmful particles and also gives a visual means of ascertaining whether fuel is flowing.

WILMOT-BREEDEN LTD. Stand 327
Makers of an extensive range of original equipment for British car manufacturers, Wilmot-Breeden are showing examples of their bumpers, handles, locks, lamps, badges and grilles. Of particular interest is the new freewheeling inside handle which when set to safety enables the handle to be rotated without opening the door. This will be especially helpful where children are carried.

WINGARD (M.A.) LTD. Stand 362
New products on the Wingard stand include the streamlined Silverwing exterior mirror, prismatic interior mirror, telescopic roof rack and ladder rack. The remainder of the range of accessories such as lamps, windscreen washers and sun blinds continue unchanged.

WORLD RADIO LTD. Stand 365
Transistor-powered Motorola radio sets are on display with pushbutton tuning controls. Models are available styled for most modern cars, together with rear-speaker kits as necessary.

ZENITH CARBURETTER CO. LTD. Stand 233
The latest Zenith and Stromberg carburetters are shown, as fitted to many cars as standard equipment. Also exhibited are the recently introduced gasket packs, which are available for all current types of Zenith carburetter.
