Mount Stuart looks a beaut

The thrilling spectacle of contemporary F1 cars running on Scottish soil for the first time in 25 years will be the highlight of the Mount Stuart Motorsport Classic. Both Williams-BMW and BAR have agreed to provide cars for high-speed demo runs through the grounds of Mount Stuart.

Run on September 20/21 on the Isle of Bute, the event has swiftly established itself as a big attraction thanks to the enthusiasm of ex-F1 Lotus driver and Le Mans winner Johnny Dumfries.

“It’s always been our aim to see current Formula One cars in action here at Mount Stuart,” explained the landowner, now known as Johnny Bute in deference to his title, the Marquis of Bute.

As well as high-speed demonstrations, many classic and historic cars will be on display. An International Rally Sprint Challenge will be held in association with Motor Sport, and two rounds of the Scottish Mini Cooper Challenge provide the competitive action.

Renault is taking a key role in supporting the event, sending cars ranging from the replica of the 1902 Paris-Vienna K Type to a 2003 R23. Allan McNish will drive the K Type, while Jean-Pierre Jaussaud will conduct the 1985 Tour de Corse-winning Renault 5 Maxi Turbo.
