Vintage Silverstone

April 16th is the Saturday when the Vintage S.C.C. occupies Silverstone for the first of its two annual race meetings at this venue. The day’s racing commences with a One-Hour High-Speed Trial (in the best tradition of the J.C.C.), with two amusing compulsory pitstops, for vintage cars. During the remainder of the afternoon there will be ten separate races over the club circuit, for vintage, Edwardian, historic racing and post-vintage thoroughbred cars, seven under handicap, with specialised races for Edwardian cars and vintage light cars. The big race of the day, the 10-lap G.P. Itala Trophy Race, is confined to vintage racing cars. The day’s racing concludes with the first of the Handicap Races which count towards the Motor Sport Clubs Trophy, and for which there is no entry fee.

Entries close on April 2nd and full details are available from T.W. Carson, Brook Cottage, Bishop’s Green, Newbury, Berkshire.

There is nothing quite like this Vintage Silverstone Meeting and the spectators’ cars alone make the pilgrimage worth while. So enter the date in your diary now ! Admission is by ticket, obtainable free from V.S.C.C. members; car-parking costing 5s. per car.

On the day following the Light Car Section of the V.S.C.C. will hold its annual Light Car Trial, another delightful event. * * *
