VETERAN- EDWARDIAN- VINTAGE

A Section Devoted to Old-Car Matters

This Month’s V.S.C.C. Silverstone Meeting
The first of those enjoyable and invariably well-supported Vintage S.C.C. race meetings on the Silverstone Club circuit takes place on April 18th, commencing with a One Hour High Speed Trial at 12.15 p.m. The remaining events will comprise the 1908 G.P. Italia Trophy Race, over 10 laps, open to vintage racing cars, the Spero and Voiturette Trophies Race over the same distance (16.8 miles) for vintage cars up to 750 c.c. s/c and 1,100 c.c. atmospherically inducted, a 10-lap All-Corners’ Scratch Race open to vintage and Historic racing cars, Merrydown Trophy race for vintage sports cars, and a series of 5-lap handicaps for vintage and p.v.t. cars and Historic racing cars, one of which will be used to score points for the 1964 Inter-Register Shield. Competitors have to report by 9 a.m. This year no saloon cars will be accepted. Entries have closed.

The public is welcome at this meeting, which is usually extremely well supported, because nowhere else than at a V.S.C.C. race meeting can you see such a diverse collection of individual motor cars or enjoy such nostalgic sights, sounds and smells. Only the girl friends will disclose that it is 1964, not 1934, because skin-tight jeans and the full figure are one feature of the present day we do not regret—otherwise, at Silverstone on April 18th you will be able to project yourselves into the past quite effectively. The car park fee is 10s. but, for indemnity reasons, everyone must have an admission ticket, obtainable beforehand from T. W. Carson, 3, Kingsclere House Stables, Kingsclere, Newbury, Berkshire on receipt of a s.a.e.

Remember this, also, that it is invariably very cold, often wet, at Silverstone. The Paddock is out of bounds to non-members. The Motoring Dog reminds you that she intends to comply with the regulations and stay at home.
