"Cars in Books", April 1974

Sir,

The car full of flappers in the George V book is a Riley. You can see the diamond emblem on the wheel hub, and the model is the Special Tourer of c. 1927 on the 11.9 chassis—one of the last side-valve models made. I have an identical car—bench seat, carriage handles, step plates and all (apart from the rear bumper). Although a fairly capacious family tourer it has attractively sporting coachwork with swept cockpit edges, three-section dashboard and V-screen. Not a bad performer and a thoroughly pleasant and well-behaved car.
