Politics!

Sir,

Your correspondent, Mr. Joseph Bayley, in a burst of almost adolescent enthusiasm for the 1½-litre Mercedes-Benz makes the observation that ” . . . two little cars . . . lie neglected and apparently forgotten, in a Country whose sole claim to fame is the invention of the cuckoo clock.” Mr. Bayley must be a very young man, otherwise how could he so write of a Country which produced Marc Birkight and Arnold Zoller, and whose factories were responsible for the Motosacoche motor-cycles, Saurer commercial vehicles and Scintilla electrical equipment ?

I am, Yours, etc.,

Derby. C. E. BAGGULEY
