John Fitch - Racing Through Life

by James Grinnell. Bookmarque, £19.95.

Those who collect the biographies of racing drivers can add another to their bookshelves if they hurry to order this limited UK edition of James Grinnell’s life of John Fitch, the SCC of America’s first National Champion, winner of the 1953 Sebring 12 Hours, the only American driver in the 1950s Mercedes-Benz team and popular here with many different racing cars. Fitch was also a WW2 decorated bomber and fighter pilot and creator of his own cars, a team-mate of Moss, Collins and Fangio and manager of the Lime Rock Park Raceway. This record of his career adds much to such important library material. The introduction is by Fitch’s old friend, Juan-Manuel Fangio. W B
