Mic Maennling’s passion for motorsport was sparked by Stirling Moss, the1955 Mille Miglia and the pictures of Klemantaski (“Those early dawn photos of Lancia D50 with all those rivets – erotic stuff!”). As various jobs took him across the world, he also visited local race tracks.

In Australia he enjoyed a chat with Graham Hill during the 1968/69 Tasman Series, and took in many races – at places like Sandown and Calder – before returning to settle in Canada.

The last GP he attended was at Montreal in 1995 – “They won’t let me jump the fence any more, and in Montreal a general admission ticket is completely useless.”
