McRae Snr to take on 911 regulars

At least four Porsche 911s will enter the Killarney Historic Stages Rally with a chance of overall victory.

To be run on Sunday December 7, this demanding closed-road event based around the scenic Irish town will be contested over nine special stages, the last of which will be run in darkness.

BHRC champion Steve Perez has entered his regular 911, while entrusting his 300bhp 1974 version to multiple British rally champion Jimmy McRae. Last year’s winner Dessie Nutt (911) and Nick Whale (911S) are the other potential winners.

The 100 stage-mile route is almost completely new, featuring only one stage that was used in 2002.

The capacity entry will be divided up into three categories: historic (pre-1968), post-historic (’68-74) and classic (’75-79).
