Vintage Morris

The vintage Morris Minor Register has been reformed, catering for owners worldwide of the 1928-1931 short wheelbase, overhead-camshaft Minors. Its Secretary, Ian Grace, is building a Morris Special based on the Morris Oxford hybrid with a surplus 18/800 MG Tigress engine, as built for Carl Skinner of SUs. It was named `Smokey’ by the SU boys. With registration YE15, Barbara Skinner took the Ladies’ Cup with it at Shelsley Walsh in 1932 and used it to tow her well-known Skinner Special Morris to hill climbs in the 1930s. Can anyone fill in details of its subsequent history? The registration was transferred to other vehicles. The Register currently has 112 members and has located 267 ohc Minors. Mr Grace’s address is 156 Deer Run Drive NE, Ada, MI 49301, USA. The Register’s magazine is devoted mostly to British Minorism and contains much data about the production history of these little cars.
