ANOTHER RECORD ATTEMPT. Count Johnson-Noad’s Plans.

ARRANGEMENTS are now being made, it is understood, for a further attack on the world’s water speed record, this time by Count John-son-Noad.

Details at this juncture are, naturally, not yet completed, but it is stated that the new challenger will have many of the features of “Miss England II.” embodied in its design, and that it will be multi-engined.

Messrs. Saunders-Roe, Ltd., the well-known aircraft and boat constructors of Cowes will be given the task ,of building the new craft—the cost of which, it is estimated, will be in the neighbourhood of £25,000.

It is also stated that the attempt will be made in Scotland—probably on Gairloch, and that efforts will be made so that everything will be ready for the attack in about 11 months’ time.

Count Johnson-Noad it will be remembered, was the winner of the Duke of York’s Trophy in both the 1924 .and 1928 contests and he also founded the B.O.R.C. His challenger will be named “Miss Empire III.”
