The Rossfeld Hill-Climb

The Rossfeld Hill-Climb, in Southern Germany, round one of the European Championship, took place on June 7th and produced a win for the 1963 Champion, Edgar Barth, who set up a new record of 3 min. 15.31 sec. in a Stuttgart-entered Elva-Porsche 8-cylinder. Second was the Swiss Herbert Muller in a flat-8 Porsche prototype (ex-Barth). British Champion Peter Westbury (Lotus 23-B.R.M.) was placed fifth. In the GT category Eduardo Lualdi’s 1964 GTO Ferrari made a new class record in 3 min. 27.29 sec., and Heinrich Walter’s Porsche 904 set a new 2-litre GT record at 3 min. 26.13 sec. The course was shortened this year by 200 metres and now measures 6 km.
