Thornycroft returns to UK

I hear that a 1908 Thornycroft has been imported here from Australia by an enthusiast who has restored many interesting cars, from a large Edwardian Delaunay-Belleville to veteran London to Brighton Darracqs.

Thornycroft of Birmingham ran cars in the tenth Isle of Man TT races of 1905 to 1908, Tom Thornycroft driving in many of them. I believe some of these racing cars are preserved in the maker’s museum. The 1908 car imported has a single-block instead of a bi-block engine, slightly larger than the four-cylinder 4in ones of the 1908 TT cars and would seem to have been built as a sporting model. It is a complete chassis less body and may be for disposal.
