A club for under-age drivers

When you are, say, 13 years old and able to drive; it is a cruel frustration to have to wait for that 17th birthday and your car driving licence. I know because (although it wasn’t exactly yesterday) I remember the feeling well.

Could a few of us not; at long last, do something about this sad situation? Could we not, for instance, form the Under Seventeens Car Club to provide young people with enough space to reach at least top gear speed, insurance cover, supervision and other basics? I have it in mind that they supply their own car, and adult escort.

If interested people would write to me, care of Motor Sport, I will try to call a meeting to establish some sort of beginnings of an organisation.

There is already some support for this proposal but we need a lot more if an effective, responsibly run club is to be formed. Are there readers of Motor Sport who will help? A stamped addressed envelope would be appreciated.
