The most successful competitors at Easter were Kaye Don, E. L. Meeson and Malcolm Campbell. The former, driving Wright’s Sunbeam, won the 100 m.p.h. Long Handicap at 107.87 m.p.h. and the Brooklands Founders’ Gold Cup at 105.03 m.p.h. Meeson, on his familiar and (outwardly) touring Vauxhall, won the 90 m.p.h. Short Handicap at 97.24 m.p.h., after some thrilling overtaking, and the 90 m.p.h. Long Handicap at 102.54 m.p.h., thus showing that much useful work has been put in on the old ” 30-98 ” during the winter months.

To Campbell fell the honour of winning the fastest race of the day, the Lightning Long Handicap, at 110 m.p.h. on a 2,300 c.c. ” straight-eight ” Bugatti, his best lap being at the rate of 119 m.p.h. Campbell also finished 2nd in the Gold Cup race. Jack Barclay having given up racing owing to parental nervousness, the famous T. T. Vauxhall appeared in charge of John Cobb, who handled it with great skill, winning the 100 m.p.h. Short Handicap at 100.38 m.p.h.

Remembering his remarkable performance last year, many people expected fireworks on the part of P. Goutte (supercharged Salmson), but the car sulked until the last race of the day, when he managed to finish third in spite of a not too generous handicap.

Little else of interest occurred during the afternoon, the other races being won by various old friends who have figured in the results before.
