Silverstone Six Hours

The major British racing event of the month is the Silverstone Six Hour Race, a round of the World Championship for Makes, which starts at 12 noon on May 11th, preceded by practice on Saturday the 10th.

As we went to Press an encouraging 44 entries had been received, including five Porsche 935 Turbos. Both works Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbos are expected, for Cheever/Alboreto and Patrese/Röhrl. Making its debut in a run up to Le Mans will be the mid-engined, Aston Martin powered AVG Advimtage GT prototype for Preece, Duret and Phillips. O’Rourke, Norman and Craft will be out in the Ferrari BB512 which O’Rourke has entered for Le Mans. Neve will be in a BMW M1 and Lombardi/Brambilla will have the works Osella, David Purley will share the lbec Le Mans car with Bracey and Niddell and the all-new, DFV-engined Gp 6 ACR Longines 80 will make its debut with Chevalley and Triscony.
