_ Y-E-V Miscellany. — We hear that Neil Corner has acquired Ronnie Symondson’s ex-Embiricos Type 578 Bugatti, Neil has had two of these cars in the past but sold them, one going to California. We may have recently mistaken Model-B for Model-A Fords but note that The Times captioned one of these later Fords, which vvas on display at the Olympia Alternative Car Show,. as .2 Model-T. . . Referring to the Editorial our September issue about Brooklan.ds, Brian Dinsley for the Brwklands’ Soc,tetY asks as to make it clear that it is Elmhridge Council, not Surrey Council, that reversed the decision of its Planning Committee not to allow Gallaher’s to proceed with their new plan which included destruction of 3oo yards of the Members’ banking, the Surrey CC having recommended that Gallaher s original plan be approved, with all the Track therein being preserved, The SocierY al asks an to state that Gallaher’s are restoring only 100 yards of the banking beneath 0_1, ., Members’ bridge, not the total of sorne.7?v yards extending towards what is left of , Railway straight and that they can net ET. way of making a circuit at present, titre depending on future developments to inh, west side of the River Wry ff, as sat possible, British Aerospace is purchas’.4by General Electric. Dinsley says, howev„i Continued on Page I” V-E-V MISCELLANY confirmed from page 1348

that the Society will “continue to save, restore and use Brooklands Motor Course”. The ex-Lycett 1914 Alphonso Hispano Suiza once owned by the Editor has returned to this country, after being sold at the Smith Collection sale in 1968 to Uvve Hucke, who used it in the 1980 Paris-Nice Rally. The car, Reg No. NK 1030, is now owned by Bernard Parris, who has had an H6 Hispano Suiza since 1957 and is restoring an HOC Hispano Suiza.

A reader living in Denmark is hoping that someone will be able to help him identify two of his cars. The first is an Alvin Speed 20 Charlesworth coupe, Reg No CS 1962, bought a few years ago and now being restored. It was sold originally, in May 1934, to J. H. Cult of Glasgow. Its history is a blank until it was taken off the road in 1962. In 1967 a Mr C. W. Peacock sold it to a Mr Taylor in Brighton, from whom our reader bought it. At some time in its life it was involved in a considerable prang. The other car about which information is sought is a 1934 Riley Imp, Reg No BGW 119, in excellent condition, which motors well and was used for the 50th Anniversary of Riley Imps and MPHs. The car’s chassis plate has been removed, not by the previous owner, and one hopes is not now on some fake car. The number stamped on the car is 6025441 and the car’s present owner would like to contact Mr Day, who worked for Ford’s at Dagenham in the mid-1960s and any previous owners who might see this.
