F5000 set to rock Albert Park for Aus GP

Formula 5000 cars from Australia, New Zealand and Britain are set to race at the 2007 Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park. The Victorian Historic Racing Register has entered advanced negotiations with the Australian governing body to provide a grid of up to 30 classic monsters for a pair of races in support of the opening grand prix of the 2007 season. If given the final green light, the high-profile March 17-18 event would form a back-to-back double-header with Australia’s most important historic race meeting at Philip Island a week earlier. Subject to approval, as many as six cars from the UK could be shipped out to the event.
