Teddy Pilette’s Chevron (right) had its second Rothmans European Formula 5000 win of the season at the Bank Holiday Brands Hatch meeting. The Belgian’s win gave him the lead in the £90,000 Championship. Peter Gethin (centre, right) leads away from pole position in the works Chevron and had built up a commanding lead until an engine failure on the 57th lap forced him to retire. Frank Gardner took his usual convincing win in the RAC National Saloon Car Championship race but the best contest was between the Escorts of Jonathan Buncombe and Nick May (centre, left), which finished third and fourth respectively. In the bottom picture the Lola T330s of Guy Edwards and Ian Ashley lead the Chevron B24s of Chris Craft and Tony Dean at Druids.
