Team Lotus underwent a major manage’ went reshuffle between the British and German Grands Prix, chairman Fred Bushell being suspended from duty and team manager Peter Warr resigning. Bushell has been charged with conspiring to defraud the DeLorean Motor Company, released on bail but relieved of his duties, while Warr went on holiday after the Silverstone event and has since left the company to pursue unspecified career plans.

Group Lotus technical director Tony Rudd has therefore been seconded to act as Team Lotus executive chairman. Rudd was a design engineer for the World Championship-winning BRM team of 1962, and joined Colin Chapman’s outfit in 1969.
