Moss joins grid for his own tribute race

The 80th birthday of Sir Stirling Moss will be marked by a special race for 1950s sports cars at the new Algarve circuit on October 17, where Moss himself will be on the grid.

Motor Racing Legends is running the Sir Stirling Moss Trophy, which the Grand Prix legend has entered in his 1956 Osca FS 372.

The two-hour endurance event will be for either two or three drivers, starting at 5pm on the Saturday of the Algarve Historic Festival. It will run into dusk.

“We were delighted when Sir Stirling allowed us to celebrate his 80th birthday year by naming a race after him, and we were even more thrilled when he entered the race himself in his own car,” said Duncan Wiltshire, chairman of Motor Racing Legends. “I think it will mean a great deal to the other competitors to race against such an undisputed hero.”
