He recovered from a slow start to the season to win four of the last five races and clinch third in the standings. The young Norman joined R-Ace Grand Prix for the 2012 Formula Renault 2.0\u00a0Eurocup\u00a0although a couple of third-place finishes were his best results. He switched to Tech<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">1 Racing for his sophomore\u00a0F.Renault\u00a0season and won three times to enter the final race with a slender point\u2019s advantage over Oliver Rowland. He drove in five of the last six\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">race<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s of the season, missing the United States GP as he was committed to the Super Formula finale. He finished on each occasion with 12th in Brazil his best result.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0Toro Rosso switched to Honda engines in 2018 and\u00a0Gasly\u00a0immediately impressed by qualifying fifth and finishing fourth in Bahrain. He started and finished sixth in Hungary but both team and driver lacked consistency.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Promotion to Red Bull and return to Toro Rosso<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">However,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Gasly\u00a0was promoted to Red Bull Racing when\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Daniel Ricciardo made the surprise decision to switch to Renault in 2019<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. That opportunity proved a burden for the Frenchman struggled throughout the first half of the season. There were top six finishes in China, Spain<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Monaco and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Hungary and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">he\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">inherited fourth when Sebastian Vettel rear-ended Verstappen at Silverstone. That was not enough for Red Bull\u2019s management and he swapped seats with Toro Rosso\u2019s Alexander Albon from the Belgian GP.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Relieved of the pressure to constantly deliver in a top-six car,\u00a0Gasly\u2019s\u00a0return of confidence was palpable. He finished in the points at five of the remaining nine races and excelled in Brazil. Sixth on the grid at\u00a0Interlagos,\u00a0Gasly\u00a0finished in a career-best second position after Lewis Hamilton hit Albon on the last lap.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Grand Prix winner for\u00a0AlphaTauri<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Seventh in the final standings,\u00a0Gasly\u00a0remain<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ed<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0with\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the rebranded\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Scuderia\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">AlphaTauri\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">for 2020<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and continued that rich vein of form when the season finally began<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0Having scored points in four of the opening seven races, he was on hand to inherit a shock victory when Hamilton was penalised at Monza.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In 2021, Gasly continued to outperform his car, forcing himself further up the grid in qualifying and on race day. Another podium finish at a drama-filled Grand Prix in Azerbaijan cemented his name among F1&#8217;s top flight, eventually going on to finish a brilliant ninth in the drivers&#8217; standings &#8211; 78 points clear of rookie teammate Yuki Tsunoda.<\/p>\n<p>The Frenchman&#8217;s success hit a slight speed bump in 2022, when major regulation changes halted the performance of AlphaTauri&#8217;s AT03. Suffering with underperformance, Gasly&#8217;s best performance once again came in Azerbaijan, capitalising on a double DNF from Ferrari to finish fifth. Ultimately, the extra points meant little in moving the team further up the grid, with the Swiss-based manufacturer finishing ninth in the constructor standings&#8217; and Gasly finishing 14th in the drivers&#8217; standings.<\/p>\n<p>In an attempt to move further up the grid, Gasly chose to leave his long-term post at AlphaTauri to join Esteban Ocon at Alpine for 2023. The pair had previously been fierce on-track rivals during their junior years, but initally looked to have put the past behind them during their first stint as team-mates. But it didn&#8217;t take long to unravel.<\/p>\n<p>In 2023, the pair were relatively well matched but it was Gasly that finished the season on top: securing a podium at Zandvoort as well as eleven more points finishes to claim eleventh in the constructors&#8217; standings \u2014 four points and a place ahead of Ocon.<\/p>\n<p>In 2024, things turned sour. Alpine arrived at the first round of the season in Bahrain with arguably the worst car on the grid and were slow to make progress \u2014 making it difficult for Gasly to fight in the point-scoring places. Then, in Monte Carlo, a chaotic opening lap saw Ocon and Gasly collide, with the former driver being sent up into the air and out of the race.<\/p>\n<p>It was announced just days later that, due to him causing the crash, Ocon would be leaving the team at the end of the season, and from then on, Gasly was the team&#8217;s unquestionable leader. The Frenchman duly stepped up to the plate and began to lead a resurgent effort in the latter third of the season: finishing third in Brazil, fifth in Qatar and seventh in Abu Dhabi to secure a critical sixth-place finish for Alpine in the constructors&#8217; standings.<\/p>\n<p>For 2025, Gasly will continue with Alpine.<\/p>\n\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n
