Motor Sport app wins ‘Digital initiative of the year’
Motor Sport magazine picked up ‘Digital initiative of the year’ for its rich-media magazine app at the prestigious PPA Independent Publisher Awards 2018.
While Motor Sport is steeped in history, and nearing it centenary, it is not shy of breaking new technological boundaries. Motor Sport launched its fully interactive digital edition of the magazine in 2012 and made bold decisions, such as utilizing a dedicated designer to create a unique spin on the print product.
The result is a fully responsive app, available across all devices and platforms, that retains traditional edition-based magazines for digital readers.
While offering paid-for high-quality editorial content on a monthly basis, the app also takes advantage of a dual publishing model that allows a continuous feed to keep readers up to date with breaking news – regardless of the magazine’s publishing frequency.
This gives users more choice and increases user retention within the app. Also included are special editions and a few of our historical publications to showcase our heritage.
Gerard O’Brien, marketing & operations director for Motor Sport magazine said: “We are extremely proud that the continuous hard work and innovation put into such an iconic brand has been recognised by our industry peers.
"It is our mission to be at the forefront of innovation across digital and to deliver the best content experience for our readers.”
The PPA Independent Publisher awards recognise and reward editorial and publishing excellence and outstanding achievements of individuals, publications and brands in the British independent publishing sector.
