F1 Mobile Racing

The 2018 Formula 1 season is nearly over, but the off-season lull could be easier to handle as Codemasters' official F1 game now has a mobile release. F1 Mobile Racing lets you start your own F1 team – building, upgrading and customising your car – to compete against players online or offline. Or you can pick from the 10 teams on this year's grid. The game is only available for iOS at the moment, with an Android release expected later this year. First impressions are that it's excellent.

Javan Smith 250 GTO model kit

Javan Smith 1:8 Scale Ferrari 250 GTO model

A completely hand-built model of the 1962 Le Mans 24 Hours class-winning Ferrari 250 GTO. The no19 GTO was piloted by Pierre Noblet and Jean Guichet for a second-place finish overall and this brand new model is just one of 35 built. The attention to detail from Javan Smith is incredible, and it comes mounted on a plinth in perspex.

From £3000 – Revilo Classic Models

Porsche hat and scarf

Porsche hat and scarf set

Understated but with just enough Porsche branding to set it apart, this hat and scarf set could be the ideal Christmas gift. It's 50 per cent merino wool and 50 per cent acrylic, with reflective Porsche labels on mottled grey fabric. Sure, it costs as much as you'd expect a Porsche hat and scarf to, but, when you or the lucky gift recipient is looking the part and feeling warm, that price tag won't matter at all.

From £75 – Porsche

Forza Horizon 4

Forza Horizon 4

The latest Forza Horizon game sets players loose on a recreation of the Lake District, the Scottish Borders and Edinburgh – and it makes for a glorious racing game. A huge list of cars and ample customisation options allows for rally-spec London Taxis or even 500 horsepower Austin-Healey Sprites. Showcase events are brilliant too, including a race between an Aston Martin Vulcan and a Vulcan jet. Available for PC and Xbox One.

Family cars of the 1960s

Family Cars of the 1960s

A quick car count on the editorial desk – 1970s VW, ‘80s BMW (or two) and Volvo, plus early ‘90s Skoda Favorit pool car – would give a fairly clear indication as to why we like the idea of this book. Family Cars of the 1960s is a journey through the obscure to the obvious, forgotten to unloved cars of the Sixties.
