Description
On an ominously wet track, Hermann Lang passes the burning wreckage of Mercedes-Benz teammate Richard Seaman’s car.
With severe burns covering his entire torso and head, Seaman was rushed to the hospital. Surrounded by friends, family and teammates, the well-liked English gentleman explained the crash as being his own fault.
Soon after, he died. Seaman was known as England’s best driver. His death was probably the last time, until after the war, Germany and Britain mourned a shared tragedy.
Lang won the race. Seaman lost his life.
