In apalling weather and suffering from tyre issues, Hunt passed Alan Jones and Clay Regazzoni to finish 3rd, thereby clinching the 1976 drivers title from Lauda by 1 point. The 1976 season was immortalised in the film Rush, with Chris Hemsworth playing James Hunt and Daniel Brühl as Niki Lauda.
