Kenny Roberts Jnr made his 500cc World Championship debut in 1993 at Laguna Seca. He raced full time in the 250cc World Championship in 1994 & 1995 with the Marlboro Yamaha Team. In 1999, Suzuki signed Roberts Jnr who went on to winning the opening two races and finish the season in 2nd place. He continued with Suzuki in 2000, his main rival being the rookie, Valentino Rossi. Roberts was consistent though, he took four wins, and five additional podiums in 16 races which was enough to crown him the 500cc World Champion.
