Sports-racing and GT cars from the 1950s and early ’60s will race at the British Grand Prix meeting at Silverstone this year.<\/p>\n

The invitation race, set to be held after the headline event on Sunday afternoon (July 7), will bring together machines from the two eras in a capacity 44-car field.<\/p>\n

It’s expected that the leading entries from the BRDC’s Historic Sports Car Championship will represent the 1950s, while cars like Ford’s GT40, AC Cobras and Jaguar E-types will represent the pre-65 classes.<\/p>\n

The 1954-60 division will be split at 1500cc, and the 1961-65 cars will be divided at 2000cc.<\/p>\n

It is planned to invite cars with significant history to contest the 1960s section of the race. The race will be organised by the Historic Sports Car Club in a deal that cements the relationship between the club and Octagon Motorsports. In August, the HSCC will run the International Historic Festival at Oulton Park on behalf of Octagon.<\/p>\n

The HSCC’s Executive Director Grahame White said: “‘This is a great privilege for our club and extremely good for historic Motorsport.
