Rauno Aaltonen is to contest the London-Sydney Marathon next year.<\/p>\n

The Finn drove a works BMC 1800 ‘Land Crab’ in the original event in 1968, but will contest the 2004 rally in a Ford Escort RS2000.<\/p>\n

Aaltonen finished fifth in ’68 with Henry Liddon and Paul Easter.<\/p>\n

“I still remember the original event as one of the great adventure rallies, said Aaltonen. “It was tough and there were surprises every day.
